Donate To Haiti Disaster Relief
January 15th, 2010While the international community rallies to meet urgent needs — from food, water and medical services to transportation and security, relief agencies are moving quickly to build the financial resources that will be required to fund the massive effort. But before aid can reach those most in need, the infrastructure for delivering the aid must be repaired. Military teams from other countries have already begun establishing communications, transport and security services — critical needs in a country where government offices and basic infrastructure were destroyed by the most powerful earthquake in 200 years.
According to Haiti’s prime minister, the death toll among Port au Prince’s 3 million inhabitants could top 100,000.
What you do not know is that Haiti has a significant Christian presence. The Florida Baptist Convention has started 890 new churches in the past five years. Much of the ongoing relief work in Haiti relates and connects to the church. The best relief would be to partner with Christian organizations and let them give out the physical relief with the spiritual relief of the Gospel.
To that end, we are recommending two organizations through which donations may be made. Samaritan’s Purse, better known for Operation Christmas Child, has partnered with mission hospitals in Haiti for more than 30 years. Already they plan to deliver 3,000 shelters to Haiti immediately, in addition to medical supplies, with several hundred more shelters being delivered each week. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief will have evaluation teams in Haiti this weekend. Water purification, meals and clean-up tend to be their specialty and their presence will remain for many months in the future. Training and mission opportunities are available to us through SBC Disaster Relief.
We have included on-line donation links to these two organizations below. Additionally, any money given toward this relief effort on Sundays will be forwarded to either of these two agencies.

Live Like You Were Dying
January 15th, 2010For the next 4 weeks, we will be studying a series called “Live Like You Were Dying.” The series, based on the popular Tim McGraw Song will challenge us to speak sweeter, love deeper, give forgiveness and embrace eternity. This is a great series to bring your friends out to as we will have great music and high quality messages.
In conjunction with the series, all of the life groups will be studying the same material in their group. We want to invite everyone to attend a life group during this time. If you don’t already have a group, just let us know on Sunday and we’ll introduce you to one of the leaders.
You can order your life group guide online today by visiting the Lakeside Store.
Lakeside Christmas Demo CD Released
December 22nd, 2009The band recently recorded 3 songs for a Chrismas demo cd as a gift for our Lakeside Church family. We handed them out this Sunday. It’s not mastered (recorded at the Jones’ house), so the volume is low, but the mix is pretty good and we’re pretty proud of it! In case you missed last Sunday or you need another copy, you can download the the songs individually under our podcast page or use the links below!

Youth Legacy Mission Site Launched!
November 19th, 2009After participating in two breakthrough ministry events in our church this fall, the Lakeside Church student group has launched a brand new website called youthlegacymission.org to highlight ministry efforts in the community. Earlier this fall, the students collected hygiene kits for St. Anne’s Rescue Mission in downtown Ogden (watch the video here). They also stayed to serve food and help with some projects at the mission. In October, the students helped to collect gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child. 2010 is ripe with potential for the students and we’ll be watching for highlights on their new website.
